September is the month to look out for TV lovers as many of our beloved shows are finally returning to televisions for subsequent seasons. 2009 also marked the year that one of my favourite series, Prison Break has finally ended it's run on Fox (R.I.P Michael Scofield). So i guessed it was time to search for new shows to follow. Here are 2 new series that are returning for a second season to tv boxsets.
Fringe will be returning on Fox network on September 17th, at 9pm. Although this series has been slammed by many people including parents councils for its gory content being not suitable for kids to watch. However I feel that Fringe deserves a mention as one of the new series to look out for because that particular content. It's true that some may cringe or scream "yi yerrrr" from time to time but J.J Abrams(Co creator of Fringe, Alias and Lost) has done it again with engaging weird stories.
This series resembles alot of X-files and Twilight Zone as it combines both supernatural & Sci-fi elements that can be explained in terms of science. It revolves around a special division of FBI who investigate the area of fringe science or science that is believed to be not possible (Teleportation, Pyrokinesis, Animal Reconstruction). Throughout the series these people would investigate a series of horrible & unexplained events that are random plus it can happen to anyone and anytime in the world. Only known as The Pattern it is believed that someone is conducting experiments while using the world as their lab. Events from season one include flesh dissolving toxin, a woman who gives birth to a child that grew & dies of old age hours later, a computer program that liqufies a person's brains etc. Another thing is the mysterious glyphs that appear throughout the show which is a code that challenges viewers to break everytime. Fans of Star Trek would also love the appearance of Leonard Nimoy @ Mr. Spock in season 2. If that's what J.J has to offer for season 1, I can't wait to see what happens next in season 2.
Look at these images that look normal at first glance until you take a closer look.
Follow The Pattern.
Another new addition would be Leverage that premiered it's second season in US in July. The story tells of how sometimes in certain situations you may find yourself helpless as you may have been wronged & the organizations have too much power & money that they could just brush off all problems, thus escaping justice. Sometimes one would've to turn to the bad guys or conmen to help them get some payback. These so called bad guys - the mastermind, a grifter, a thief, a hitter and a hacker can do just that for you as they rob the rich & bad, get payback & make alot of money(Bad guys often are the richest people).
This show would appeal if you like shows such as Ocean's 11, 12 & 13 as the gang plots to con their intended victims (the bad guys) and provide leverage to their clients at the same time. Usually you would be surprised at the end of the epidsode as things are not what they seem. Similiarly, for a con/heist show Leverage decides to take themselves lightly with jokes in the show which makes it fun to watch. I found myself laughing along with alot of memorable moments of Leverage that is both cool and hilarious to watch. Personally, I find that they have improved in terms of everything in season 2. Certainly a show that is recommended to watch.
The modern Robin Hood gang of "Bad Guys".
Also on a bright note, I'm pleased to announce the return of Supernatural season 5 this month in US. After what happened in season 4 (fans I'm sure you would know), I really can't wait to see Dean and Sam back in action!! Spoiler: The first few minutes of season 5 sees Dean driving angel Zachariah out of the house which looks so cool I may add=)
"Being scared just got one helluva lot sexier". Well we can't exactly deny that on supernatural=)
Feel free to check out these series in the meantime as more will be coming your way.
